I injured my chest down the sternum and left peck and its not healing?

Seven months is too long. Insist on an X-ray, but even if you have damaged something it will take time as your GP says (but not 7 months surely). My son had major open chest surgery 5 months ago and doesnt seem to routinely have any pains.
