Help writing a book and need sugestion?

I am starting the story which follows my progress triumphs and pitfalls with men. I have had extra ordinary things happen. I don't know if I should do it from a first persons view or third. I want the book to tell a story but I also want the beauty of metaphor in my work, which explains not just the story but the way I think. Also I did not know if I should start with my father in my book and pull in childhood, I thought he is the first man I have formed a relationship with, and I can draw very pronounced parrells from him and my actions and selections of men that I have picked in the future and the influence that they had on my life for good or bad. Whats your suggestion?
